Health Coverage

San Mateo County can help you and your family enroll in affordable health insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act.  Medi-Cal health insurance serves the neediest in our community and is open for enrollment all year long.  Low to moderate income families may qualify for the Advanced Premium Tax Credit health insurance programs during the open enrollment period from November 15, 2014 to February 22, 2015. Special Enrollment begins February 23, 2015. Special Enrollment for individuals who are applying after being informed of the tax penalty risks have from February 23 until April 30, 2015.

If individuals or families are at or below the 138% FPL (Federal Poverty Level), you may be eligible for free health insurance known as Medi-Cal.  If individuals or families make between 138% and 400% FPL, you may be eligible for subsidized health insurance plans from Covered California.  Below is a chart to explain the various annual FPL incomes.
