Cal Fresh

CalFresh provides nutrition assistance to people with low income. It can help buy nutritious foods for a better diet. If approved a monthly dollar amount is placed on a debit like card to help you add to your monthly food budget. Cal Works (California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids)

CalWORKs provides temporary cash assistance to low-income families with children along with services to help parents find and keep a job. CalWORKs can also help children who are not receiving financial support and care from their parents. Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI)

General Assistance

General Assistance provides short-term cash assistance to low-income individuals who are residents of San Mateo County. GA assistance can help residents pay for living expenses such as rent and utilities. Health Care Coverage

San Mateo County can help you and your family enroll in affordable health insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act. Medi-Cal provides free or low cost health insurance to eligible adults, children and seniors who are at or below the 138% FPL (Federal Poverty Level) and is open for enrollment all year long. Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), additional health coverage options are now available to individuals of all ages.  For more information, please call the toll-free phone number at 1-800-223-8383, or visit one of our offices.

The State’s Exchange, known as Covered California, will offer four different health plan levels that provide a range of premiums and benefit levels. The private health insurance companies that will be available in San Mateo County are Anthem, Blue Shield, Chinese Community Health Plan, Health Net and Kaiser Permanente. More Info on the Covered California Website
